Hugh Bryant retires as General Manager and Trustee

16th June 2020

Hugh Bryant is retiring as Trustee and General Manager on 20th July 2020. Hugh has been a Trustee since the charity’s foundation in August 2013 and in the last seven years has overseen the charity’s development to become a vital part of the Cobham community. From its foundation in 2013 by Churches Together in Cobham, Oxshott, and Associated Areas, the Foodbank, an independent charity subscribing to the Trussell Trust network of food banks, now provides food to almost 3,000 people in need (2019) in Cobham, Oxshott, Stoke D’Abernon, The Horsleys, and Effingham.

Hugh has given many talks, presentations and sermons in support of the Foodbank. As well as being the general manager he has been an effective fundraiser, and in charge of procuring and operating the Foodbank’s former and current green Sprinter vans, which have been a familiar sight in the area and outside Waitrose in Cobham on collection days.

The Trustees would like to extend their appreciation for all of Hugh’s efforts and wish him well in the future.

Revd Dr Mike Branscombe, Vicar of St. Andrew’s Church, Cobham, has recently joined the board of Trustees and brings his experience of working with the Religious Community Services of Clearwater in the USA and overseeing the operation of St Martin in the Bull Ring’s foodbank in Birmingham City Centre. Mike has been involved in fund-raising as a charity trustee whilst in Florida and the UK. He is excited to join the trustees in ensuring hungry people continue to be fed through the work of Cobham Area Foodbank.

The Foodbank will appoint further trustees over the coming months.
